Our exclusive Tartan Design Service offers you a unique tartan of your own, as a Personal, Family, District (geographic), or Corporate/Organisation tartan.

The Tartan Design Service is a "package deal" that includes:

A custom tartan design based on personal details such as historical associations with certain places, surnames, professions, etc., your favourite colours, other tartans you admire, and so on — up to three designs will be offered in a digital image format, for you to choose from

Research to be sure the image you select is not too similar to any existing tartan to be registered as a new tartan

A digital image of your new tartan you may use as desktop wallpaper for your computer, or as a master image for printed products

Weaving of 10 yards (double-width, approximately 54" wide) of worsted wool twill tartan fabric in a medium (13 oz.) weight suitable for kiltmaking — this is sufficient yardage to make two traditional 8-yd. or 9-yd. kilts, or a kilt and fly plaid, plus several more items (kilts and other items not included, but may be ordered separately); the fabric is the most expensive aspect of the package, but necessary in order to register the tartan, for which a sample must be submitted — we will also keep a small sample for our files; more fabric can be ordered at a fixed price per yard, if desired

Registration of the new tartan with the Scottish Tartans Authority and/or the Scottish Tartans World Register, including notation of restricted use, if desired — you receive the Certificate(s) of Registration

The cost for the entire Tartan Design Package is $1500.00 (USD).  The freight or postage charge for delivery of tartan (or any products made from it) to your address, and Customs duties (if applicable), are additional.  A $500.00 deposit is required at the time the design project is commissioned.  The remaining $1000.00 is due when the tartan design is approved and the weaving order is placed.  Charges for freight or postage and Customs duty (if applicable) are due at the time of despatch and/or delivery.  If delivered to a Maryland address, 5% state sales tax will be added.  If delivered within the UK or European Union (EU), 17.5% value-added tax (VAT) applies to the cost of the tartan material only.

We can arrange to have a variety of garments and accessories made to order in your tartan, if desired.
